Manage and optimize transportation strategies and operations for both domestic and international logistics functions. Leads commercial negotiations and contract development with Logistics providers to ensure favorable terms that mitigate the company’s risk.

  • Lead and negotiate commercial terms with logistics providers
  • Promote alignment by understanding and communicating customer needs and requirements throughout the organization
  • Facilitate resources on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through various production processes, and establishes key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals on a regular basis
  • Oversee and analyze the transportation and distribution system and procedures to ensure the efficient and economical delivery of the organization's products
  • Review proposals and make recommendations for modifications in rates and transportation regulations
  • Manage professional employees and/or Supervisors
  • Develop reports for Management that provides visibility of transportation costs and performance
  • Manage technical/business support or production/operation staff and is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline or function
  • Adapt departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges
  • Oversee freight payment processes for the company
  • Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance from Senior Manager
  • Provide technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or customers
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and six (6) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field; OR
  • Master's degree and four (4) years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field



  • MBA with focus in Supply Chain, Marketing or Operations Management
  • Five (5) or more years of operations, supply chain or logistics experience
  • Trucking and/or railroad experience
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating among diverse work groups and personnel (internal, external, various grade levels, disciplines, etc.)
  • Strong problem solving, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel


  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in downtown Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting
  • Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
