Review, identify, select, and forward applicants in support of the company's hiring needs; throughout the selection process, convey to candidates aspects of the work environment and company culture.
  • Conduct resume / credential reviews and pre-screening of candidates as appropriate to position requirements
  • Apply understanding of the business needs to the recruiting process to better identify candidates that match client needs
  • Update and maintain candidate information in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
  • Validate ATS information to ensure accuracy and prepare regular and ad hoc reports as needed
  • Monitor and track application status and other metrics
  • Identify outstanding hiring issues and research solutions to facilitate hiring decisions
  • Collaborate with Human Resources and hiring managers in the creation of detailed and accurate preferred interview tools
  • Collaborate with partners on the sourcing recruitment teams ensuring all pertinent site-specific recruiting processes and service level agreements is employed when sourcing hard-to-fill positions
  • Participate in and support company-sponsored recruiting events such as local/national career fairs, special events or functions
  • Possess and apply knowledge and understanding of EEO and Affirmative Action policies as determined by the company as well as state/federal agencies to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with peers and hiring managers to research or investigate issues and provide resolution
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or GED and six (6) years of Recruiting/Human Resources-related experience, OR
  • Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of Recruiting/Human Resources-related experience
  • Understanding of EEO and Affirmative Action policies
  • Understanding of employment law as it relates to hiring practices
  • Broad knowledge of Freeport-McMoRan and typical recruiting processes and procedures



  • Previous employment within a placement/staffing agency environment; including experience with direct hire, high-volume, and professional level recruiting
  • Experience with Taleo or other Applicant Tracking Systems, as well as SAP
  • Proven interpersonal skills and strong communication capabilities with different levels of management
  • Strong sense of urgency and intuitive to business needs
  • Ability to adjust to changing priorities and support multiple customers
  • Experience in the Mining and/or Energy/Utilities industry
  • Must be able to travel up to (25%) to support career events and/or to attend mine site meetings as business needs dictate


  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Position is in busy, non-smoking office located in Phoenix, AZ
  • Location requires mobility in an office environment; each floor is accessible by elevator
  • Occasionally work will be performed in a mine, outdoor or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see
  • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Freeport-McMoRan promotes a drug/alcohol free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and on-going random drug testing as per applicable State Laws

  • Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.
