This position will be located in Calama, Chile
Qualified applicant will provide personal instruction in one or all of the following subject-areas: Science, Math, Social Studies and Language Arts, depending on need and currentmakeup of student body at the time, as student body fluctuates from year to year. Teacher/student ratio is rarely more than 1-to-3, usually 1-to-2. As student-body fluctuates from year to year, the successful applicant will be expected to “teach up” or “teach down” in these subject areas, depending on the current needs of the school. For example, during the course of the day, the successful applicant may be required to teach Kinder Math and then, next period, 8th Grade Science, etc. Flexibility, willingness to work with a small group of dedicated teachers, and prior teaching experience (K-12) a must.
Additional responsibilities:
  • Teaching Techniques: Plans strategies and objectives to meet curriculum requirements, which includes developing and preparing lesson plans for effective instruction of the curriculum. Uses a variety of teaching strategies and materials to address different student learning styles.
  • Motivation of Students: Engages students in the learning process and sets expectations.  Conducts effective instruction based on the school standards and requirements.
  • Develops and administers an effective assessment to evaluate the students’ achievements based on the curriculum, school standards, and established requirements.
  • Communicates effectively with students, parents, teachers, head teacher and host-school administrators.
  • Provides and delivers effective reporting to parents of students’ development to ensure parents are adequately informed.
  • Classroom Management: Manages student behavior effectively to allow optimal learning.
  • Support for and Co-operation with Colleagues: Commits to assisting coworkers in improving learning and teaching techniques.
  • Contribution to Wider School Activities: willingness to get involved with host-school activities and with community and parent activities.
  • Implements and contributes to the implementation of safety and environmental procedures during the learning process.
  • Performs other duties as required.


  • BA from an accredited university with course work relevant to the subject matter to be taught
  • At least three years teaching experience (Grades K-12)
Preferred Qualifications
  • MA degree from an accredited university and/or complemented with a current teaching certificate preferred but not required
  • Some overseas teaching experience preferred by not required
  • Working knowledge of Spanish and an awareness of Latin American Culture preferred but not required.  
  • Current K-8 Multiple Subject teaching certificate preferred but not required
