Position Summary and Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:  (brief description)
Provides daily technical support to mill operations for troubleshooting and correcting metallurgical and production problems.  Responsible for routine metallurgical testing or monitoring, control and optimization of the mill operation and refinery.  Develops and executes lab and plant test programs for improvement of plant metallurgical performance.  Has responsibility for mill metallurgical accounting functions for daily reports.  Responsible for daily, monthly, and annual reagent consumption reports.   
   
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  (specific duties and responsibilities)

1. Works with mill operations daily to assist in troubleshooting and solving metallurgical problems.   
2. Fills in for the metallurgical technician duties when absence.   
3. Fills in for senior metallurgist in his/her absence.    
4. Responsible for routine metallurgical testing such as carbon activities and plant profiles for monitoring, control and optimization of the mill operations.    
5. Monitors and evaluates metallurgical performance of the mill designs and executes test programs for improving mill recovery, throughput and costs.    
6. Responsible for preparation of monthly status and final reports on all metallurgical projects.   
7. Responsible for mill reagent consumption reports.    
8. Has specific responsibility for optimization of mill reagent usage including lab and plant evaluations of new reagent products.
9. Has direct responsibility for mill sampling systems and sampling practices.    
10. Interacts with process control technician to develop new control strategies for improving mill performance.
11. Punctuality and regular attendance are required.   
12. Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
13. Compliance with all company policies and procedures including but not limited to safety, confidentiality and environmental policies.    
14. Possession of a valid driver's license issued by the state.   
15. Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.   
16. Maintain accurate records and files.    
17. Consistent exercise of discretion and judgment in job performance.    

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Perform other related functions as assigned by supervisor.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:  (qualifications)
1. Bachelor's of Arts or Bachelor's of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering or related field or equivalent work experience required.
2. Minimum of two years experience in operations or technical support, including two years in precious metals.    
3. Strong verbal, written, analytical and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.   
4. Attention to detail, a clear sense of priorities, and effective time management skills.   
5. Must be production orientated.
6. Self-motivated individual with the reputation of having a consistent sustained initiative within an organizational environment.
7. Demonstrated work ethic that shows, by example, how to get things done.
8. Good working knowledge and skills with a P.C. utilizing word processing and spreadsheet programs.   
9. Ability to work independently and also as a member of the management team.
10. Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
