2. WORK OUTPUT DESCRIPTION

This role is responsible to supports the Chief Metallurgist to optimise and continually improve the Technical operation of the Plant. The core work outputs are:

* Supporting the effective technical operation MCM processing plant
* Identifying new methods to improve the concentrators technical process
* Good employee relations
* Administration of necessary systems
* Student mentorship

4. A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TASKS

Work output Title : Supporting the effective technical operation of MCM processing plant

Tasks:

* Monitoring the materials usage especially steel balls and reagents

* Continuously liaise with the Chief Metallurgist on plant operations, technical projects and improvements from a technical perspective

* Ensure that safety standards are adhered to and incidents are reported

* Liaise with Process Supervisors for technical support requirements

* Liaise with Engineering (maintenance) for mill inspections and relining requirements

* Monitor and advise on the settings of operational parameters to optimise performance (Expert system operational parameters, reagents targets and set points, steel addition, etc.)

* Audit the process regularly to ensure conformance (spot checks, calibrations, etc.)

* Assist during breakdowns or emergencies or poor plant performances (stay on longer if required/necessary)

* Identify and communicate plant defects to the Chief Metallurgist

* Provide support to outside technical "consultants", e.g. OSA, SGS, etc.

Work output Title: Identify new methods to improve the concentrators technical process

Tasks:

* Keep up to date with modern developments (ensure the ones in place are utilized effectively)

* Initiate and conduct personal and team technical projects with the Chief Metallurgist and Laboratory Technicians

* Monitor trends in the plant and compare with best practices if negative variations are found identify and implement solutions

* Liase with engineering to identify engineering opportunities for improvement

Work output Title: Good employee relations

Tasks:

* Effective two way open communication with employees

* Develop a trusting and mutual respect relationship with internal and external service suppliers

* Ensure that employees work in a safe environment

* Support and participate in the training and development requirements of employees

* Communicate effectively with Chief Metallurgist

Work output Title: Administration of necessary systems

Tasks:

* Compile accurate daily metal accounting reports

* Prepare ad-hoc reports for management or other information customers (weekly reports, technical data required, month end report)

* Participate in required meetings including safety

* OSA, Expert, Relining systems reliability

* Establish procedures for abnormal work requirements which fall outside of standard procedures

5. ROLE DECISIONS

* Recommend the specialist expertise when technical problems occur and no expertise available on site
* Changing technical parameters to minimise the effect of unexpected problems in liaison with line managers
* Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
* Stopping the operation if technical standards non-conformance could have serious impact on the process
