Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

* Promote continuous improvement initiatives to area infrastructure and equipment upgrade opportunities;
* Mentor, communicate effectively and provide solid direction to the maintenance planners concerning task organization, parts requirements, task duration, manpower schedules, and accurate equipment maintenance requirements.
* Monitor, verify and input equipment KPIs and act on areas not in compliance to achieve operational targets
* Perform QA/QC assessments to identify substandard or poor quality workmanship of employees and all contractors. Put control measures in place to improve quality of work being performed while monitoring and tracking improvements to ensure standards and equipment requirements are met.
* Follow up with maintenance supervisors, planners and mechanics regarding completion of all planned work to identify challenges to be corrected or opportunities to improve job execution.
* Lead and manage the improvement of the preventative, predictive and condition based maintenance programs through continual review, data analysis, and optimization.
* Ensure equipment reliability and up-time is achieved through effective failure analysis review, determination of root cause and modification of maintenance systems to address as required.
* Assist with maintaining team focus on HSE in-line with the company HSE management plan and responsibilities outlined therein relating to this role.

Required Technical skills & experience of the ideal candidate:

* A minimum of 10-15 years' experience in heavy mobile equipment maintenance (technical and operational), with at least 5 of those years in a Superintendent role in an open pit mining environment
* A degree in Engineering or Technician/Technologist diploma;
* Proven track record of successfully implementing business improvement initiatives.
* Experience with Komatsu equipment (HD-785-7, PC2000, WA600 loaders, Dozers and Graders) and Caterpillar equipment (Cat 785C haul trucks and Cat 390 excavators).
* Team player with excellent leadership, strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to collaborate well with subordinates, peers, engineering, management, procurement and suppliers;
* Strong organizational and computer skills along with experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems and Microsoft Office (email, word processing, spreadsheets, planning & scheduling)
