Job Description

To ensure alignment with the organization’s long-term strategy.To maximize operational efficiencies and profitability.  To oversee the day-to-day safety operations including regulatory compliance, coaching and training.

Job Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to:

  • Assess work practices and environmental conditions for hazards to health and safety of workers;
  • Monitoring of occupational hygiene stressors; physical, chemical and biological;
  • Maintain OH database up to date
  • Update/Develop a physical demand analysis for each position
  • Coordinate OH periodical medical examinations
  • Conduct Occupational Hygiene Risk Assessments;
  • Perform half face and full face mask fit testing
  • Calibration, verification and maintenance of instrumentation;
  • Prepare reports and maintain IH database;
  • Be able to give support to training requirements related to Occupational Health.
  • Prepare IH reports and Collaborates with HS superintendent  to identify and analyze business requirements;
  • Identifies gaps and implements agreed upon solutions monitors and reports on achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed.
  • Implements processes, policies, systems, and practices that contribute to a unified business platform
  • Acts as a change agent and project sponsor for key initiatives; models organizational values, sets the cultural tone, and prioritizes business goals;
  • Liaise with various internal functional areas and external safety organizations;
  • Participate in maintaining regulated ‘best practice’ safety programs;
  • Consider and recommend best practices to be proposed for adoption.

Education and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Science, preferably in health or chemistry,
  • Mathematical background,
  • Strong understanding of OH sampling methods in accordance with NIOSH and OSHA standards
  • Possess written and verbal skills in English
  • Strong analytical background,
  • Physically fit to work outside and at heights,
  • Personal attributes that will be advantageous: career driven, ability to work under pressure and attention to detail
  • Possess a good understanding of chemical handling, storage and manipulation
  • Be familiar with IH equipment (Dosimeters, air quality sampling pumps, heat stress monitors…)
  • Possess a valid driving license

  • Overall attendance and timeliness
  • Compliance with all safety standards & procedures and participates in all ‘tool box’’ / safety briefings
