Process Maintenance Manager

This role is based in Kazakhstan on a rotating work schedule


" Develop, implement and lead activities of the maintenance sub-department across both SXEW and sulphide concentrator plants, including mechanical and electrical maintenance of the crushing, milling, flotation, thickening and filtration sections, including shutdown scheduling, planning and reviewing of stores inventory to minimize downtime and maximize throughput.
" Coordinate through subordinates the maintenance of other fixed assets such as the mine workshop.
" Ability to optimize process production through leadership and direction of staff and communication and coordination with the operations, training and metallurgy groups inside the Process Department and with external groups including the Mining, HSE, Human Resources and Finance Departments.
" Manage the development of maintenance plans, budgets and schedules.
" Manage the execution of maintenance plans and assessment of efficiency and execution improvements.
" Manage and implement company safety standards and set expectations at all levels of staff and supporting contractors.
" Ensure that the Mechanical, Electrical and Instrumentation maintenance of the concentrator meets the company's requirements by utilising the highest international standards at the Aktogay concentrator.
" Record evidence of all maintenance employees attending regular safety meetings.
" Ensure the safety of all personnel through diligent monitoring of hazards, implementation of the company's safety policies and controls
" Ensure that any safety incidents/accidents are investigated and reported within the agreed time frame and implement regular safety audits and develop acceptable compliance levels against benchmarks.
" Develop the Maintenance planning department to include Work Permits and Parts lists for all standard jobs
" Develop the workforce to be competent in all areas of maintenance activities.
" Recruit the workforce to cover the skills required for efficient operations of the department
" Review Mechanical/Electrical/Instrumentation spare parts inventories to ensure sufficient spare parts are held in stock to smoothly support this function.
" Ensure that all critical spares have been identified and are on site, and that all the recommended vendor spares have been catalogued and added to stores inventory
" Ensure all statutory requirements for the site are met, and exceeded, in relation to electrical and mechanical systems.
" Ensure that effective preventative maintenance and monitoring systems are implemented in the Aktogay concentrator.
" Ensure that communications are timely and efficient with regard to staff, senior management and other groups as appropriate. This communication will include and senior site meetings, reports as determined by senior management, programmed coordination meetings with operations and maintenance and other meetings as required.
" Work as part of a team to establish and implement departmental policies, objectives and procedures.
" Provide leadership for subordinate staff, including activities such as preparing work schedules, preparing job descriptions and assigning specific duties and tasks.
" Select, train and develop candidates for subordinate roles with an eye towards those with exceptional talent for promotional and succession planning opportunity.
" Lead and mentor the key departmental subordinates to ensure that the operational deliverables are consistently realized within their areas of accountability.
" Implement other tasks given by Line manager within own competence.


" Asset Reliability Superintendent;

All employees
o Know, understand and follow the HSE requirements of all company standards and procedures.
o Take time to identify any hazards associated with their work and the required controls for safe work.
o Stop and ask for help if unsure about hazards and controls.
o Look out for the safety of other workers and intervene if HSE risks appear unacceptable.
o Report all incidents and near misses to the supervisor immediately.

In addition are accountable for the safety of all the subordinate people, ensuring they:
o are fit for work;
o have the skills, knowledge, experience and temperament required to work safely;
o understand the required outcomes in terms of quantity, quality and timeframe;
o understand the hazards associated with the task, and their potential consequences;
o understand, and agree to apply, the procedures or other controls that are needed to manage the hazards;
o ensure that the equipment to be used is in good order and is fit-for-purpose;
o monitor the task at the frequency needed to ensure that required procedures are being followed and other controls are in place.

3. Receive professional training, retraining and qualification improvement according to the procedure set by Employment Agreement and in accordance with labor legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
4. Have workspace equipped in compliance with health and safety requirements;
5. Be provided with personal and collective protective equipment, special clothing as required by legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan on health and safety.


1. For non-execution, low quality or untimely execution of duties as outlined in this job description, employment agreement, internal documents of the Company.
2. For any damage caused to the Company.
3. For violation of the rules of labor regulations and labor discipline of the Company.
4. For failure to safe-keep documents, information, material assets entrusted to the employee for execution of job duties.


" Higher technical education with relevant specialization in maintenance or reliability engineering or equivalent.
" 5 years of experience at relevant maintenance managerial roles in Fixed Plant Ore Processing Facilities or similar heavy industry including maintenance experience on large crushers and grinding mills.
" Proven leadership qualities in maintaining all milling related activities (e.g. crushing, grinding, flotation, thickening, tailings storage).
" Experience in managing electrical and instrumentation sections, this requires a working knowledge of electrical distribution systems, SCADA and PLC plant control and Radiation Safety.
" Practical knowledge in setting up and managing a computerized maintenance system, as well as an electronic cost control system in line with the best practices.
" Ability to record of good communications with Concentrator Operations Sections and review the operations of plant equipment and systems on an ongoing basis in order to minimize unplanned downtime and identify opportunities for improvement;
" Proven experience in managing inventories of spare parts, maintenance supplies and equipment and ensures reorders of spares are effective;
" Practical knowledge in strategic and annual planning, budgeting and applications for capital investments.
" Capability to lead the team, visible leadership in health, safety and environmental aspects of the business;
" Extensive knowledge of Maintenance processes, practices
" Strong financial acumen, including the ability to read and analyze financial and operational reports.
" Solid computer skills in business software such as Microsoft Office.
" Experience with CMMS software systems such as Ellipse, Oracle or SAP.
" Knowledge of the RoK legislative and other normative acts, methodological and other materials relating to plant production and maintenance activities.
" Knowledge of the basics of RoK Labor Code, internal work order, HSE rules and regulations and fire safety requirements.
" Driver's License (B category).
" Ability to prioritize tasks with an unwavering commitment to safety and best practice.
" Ability to lead presentations and discussions around planning and reliability priorities and to maintain composure under stressful situations and make independent decisions.
" Highly developed communication, supervisory, coaching and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
" Skills in report writing and problem solving.
