Under limited supervision, plan, organize, manage and evaluate designated Civil and Structural Engineering projects and programs, ensuring the successful conclusion of all phases within an appropriate time and at appropriate cost.
  • Supervise or may serve as Project Engineer/Manager or technical expert for the design of small/simple to large/complex construction, expansion or modification Civil/Structural Engineering projects using sound engineering, data measurement & collection, calculations, analysis, interpretation and problem solving; includes the responsibility of working with and reviewing work from other Engineering disciplines
  • Reviews engineering drawings for constructability, and manages the production of steel fabrication and rebar bending drawings
  • Supervise or review, investigate and develop appropriate recommendations regarding planned Civil/Structural Engineering projects
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
  • Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Civil/Structural Engineering areas
  • Develop and/or review scopes of work, evaluate proposals, draft formalized internal requests for funding, and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment as approved and required
  • Identify opportunities for improvements and determine associated value for risk reduction measures
  • Perform other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering and seven (7) years of experience in Engineering or related Scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience;OR
  • Master’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering and five (5) years of experience in Engineering or related Scientific field, including lead or supervisory experience
  • Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of Civil/Structural Engineering; and knowledge of steel fabrication and construction
  • Demonstrate technical competence through Engineering and/or Operations experience in at least the following work areas: earthworks, structural design, concrete design, steel fabrication details and rebar bending schedules, and construction practices
  • Proficient in MS Office and other Engineering tools (CAD, analytical, mapping)
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to travel to international job sites 15-25% of the time
  • Skilled in managing the design of large/complex Civil/Structural Engineering projects
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees and consultants
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing



  • Professional Engineering (PE) Certification and ten (10) years of experience
  • Experience with metal mining operations, especially with regards to geotechnical, structural, earth and concrete works
  • Experience with cost estimating for Civil projects, project scheduling and project controls
  • Skilled in related Engineering software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D) and programming languages
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting
  • Ability to travel to international job sites 15-25% of the time
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
