Summary of Role
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Training & Development Coordinator will be responsible for the continued development of our site-wide training and development programs, a key component of the Human Resources system. The Coordinator works with the T&D team members, site management staff and various staff in all departments to plan, develop and implement relevant, priority T&D programs required to drive and support site business needs and workforce localization objectives. T
The Coordinator leads the T&D central staff and line department Trainers to provide training and development direction and support and to facilitate integration of centralized and departmental T&D activities.
This is a fly-in/fly-out (8 weeks on/4 weeks off or 6 weeks on/3 weeks off) expatriate role based at our Sabodala Gold Operations in Senegal.
Key Responsibilities
· Support the continued development and implementation of the career management systems and processes including 1) completion of the competency models outlining knowledge and skill requirements for key job categories & positions, and 2) employee progression, promotion and succession planning with a focus on the key roles in the national workforce
· Provide leadership and support in oversight, consultation and approvals for line department technical training
· Manage central training & development staff as well as leads Trainers in the line departments
· Leads the development and implementation of a site-wide training and development plan
· Identify and manage external training providers as well as in-country education and training facilities
· Develop and communicate key T&D policies, procedures and plans, and report regularly on progress
· Develop and track metrics, and report on training impacts and overall training and development progress
· Participate in the management of Company-sponsored intern, graduate and vocational trade programs in association with identified Company and government stakeholders
· Assist with the identification and management of priority employee skill development programs including via partnerships with educational institutions, funding agencies, etc.)
· Deliver training sessions as required
Required Skills and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree and advanced qualifications / certification in training and development
· Minimum 10 years’ related experience with at least 3 at a supervisory / management level; experience in training and development in a progressive, “best practices” organization required; previous mining experience strongly preferred
· Demonstrated experience developing and implementing training & development strategies, plans & programs with proven results
· Hands-on experience in developing and implementing competency models
· Experience developing and implementing succession planning, career management and progression systems
· Ability to monitor and evaluate training and development programs
· Experience identifying and managing external training providers
· Functional proficiency in French & English is preferred
· Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills
· Ability to work effectively within a culturally diverse workplace
· Effective facilitation and presentation skills
· Strong leadership and interpersonal skills required
