Job Description

The Senior Tax Analyst will provide tax accounting expertise in support of Kinross’ consolidated financial reporting functions and Canadian tax technical expertise in meeting Kinross’ corporate tax compliance requirements.

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the annual/quarterly financial reporting process:
  • Assist in consolidation of tax provision
  • Analyze the tax accounts of all significant sites/jurisdictions
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly tax entries based on tax provision calculations and/or other support schedules
  • Prepare various tax analyses, to be included in the quarterly executive reporting package
  • Prepare the annual tax provisions for Canadian entities
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian tax reporting requirements:
  • Prepare tax and information returns for Canadian entities
  • Prepare documentation to meet Canadian foreign affiliate reporting requirements
  • Monitor the incidence of Reg 105 and Part XIII obligations, coordinate the payment of related tax amounts and manage the related accounts with CRA
  • Maintain a high standard of file documentation
  • Support functional (tax) projects:
  • Assist in managing external tax audits
  • Assist in the analysis and implementation of various tax planning initiatives
  • Oversee the process of providing legalized residency certificates to the sites as required
  • Assist in the annual budgeting process for tax expense

Education and Experience


  • Recognized accounting designation [CPA, CGA]
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, tax and/or accounting
  • Completion of or currently enrolled in Part I of the CPA Canada In-depth Tax program


  • 5 - 8 years of related work experience or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years corporate tax experience in an income tax department of a national accounting firm or in industry 


  • Solid understanding of accounting for deferred taxes
  • Ability to work effectively, both in a dynamic team environment and individually (with minimal supervision) Excellent time and project management skills, as evidenced by experience successfully managing competing priorities
  • Effective and efficient communication skills, including the ability to clearly document work and present analyses / findings in a concise manner
  • Skill with financial software – including Microsoft Excel / Word / PowerPoint / Outlook, CCH TaxPrep, CCH Online / Taxnetpro / E&Y Online, JD Edwards
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Professional attention to accuracy and documentary detail
