Location: Elko, Nevada, USA

Bald Mountain is an open-pit mine with a large estimated mineral resource base located in Nevada. It is the newest mine in Kinross’ portfolio and was acquired in January 2016.

Job Summary

Safely and effectively performs preventive maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting of power distribution centers, switchgear, motors and controls, process controls and instrumentation. Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, and callouts. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Functions

  • Receives wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions, either verbally or in writing, concerning emergency and schedules repair, installation, and inspection work to be performed.
  • Services electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components.
  • Performs plant-wide instrumentation and electrical maintenance.
  • Maintains and installs communication cables, power distribution cables and wire.
  • Use machines and hand tools common to the trade.
  • Informs supervisor and affected personal of potentially dangerous electrical equipment and corrective actions taken.
  • Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records in JDE.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance is required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  • Work without risk of harm to self and others.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications & Skills Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.  Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • Completion of an approved certified electronics, electrical and/or instrumentation program or minimum of two (2) years of experience or a combination of education and experience in industrial electrical and/or instrumentation repair and maintenance preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation.
  • Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge and skill with P.C. utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment or alone.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists
