Construction Manager
Two-year contract, possibility to extend to ensure termination of construction

Description:

SRG Graphite inc. is a Canadian-based resource company with the goal of creating shareholder value by
becoming a leader in the production and delivery of low-cost, quick-to-market, quality graphite in an
environmentally and socially responsible fashion. Its operation is now mainly in West Africa.
SRG’s team is dynamic and enthusiastic having for vision to explore, develop and provide quality mineral
commodities in an ethical traceable way for the benefit of all stakeholders.

Directly reporting to the Vice President of Operations, Metallurgy and Process Design, the construction
manager will be responsible for the preparation and execution of the construction of the future mineral
processing plant and related facilities. While the position is based at the SRG Graphite’s head office in the
town Mount-Royal (Montreal), frequent travel to Africa will be required.

Requirements:

 10+ years of experience in construction management of a mineral floatation processing plant or
other industrial infrastructures
 Experience in West Africa and knowledge of the local markets
 Experience in contract negotiation and construction contracting possibilities (i.e. EPC, cost-plus,
etc.)
 Bilingual: English and French
 Degree in civil or mechanical engineering or related disciplines

Assets:
 Knowledge of the mining sector mainly in West Africa
 Experience in managing feasibility studies, detailed engineering and pre-construction activities
Job description:
 Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines.
 Determine labor requirements and dispatch workers to construction site
 Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, and other
regulations.
 Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to administrative staff, workers, and clients,
representing the owner or developer.
 Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions, changes and additions to contractual agreements with
architects, consultants, clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
 Obtain all necessary permits and licenses.
 Direct and supervise workers.
 Study job specifications to determine appropriate construction methods.
 Select, contract, and oversee workers who complete specific pieces of the project, such as painting
or plumbing.
 Requisition supplies and materials to complete construction projects.
 Prepare and submit budget estimates and progress and cost tracking reports.
 Develop and implement quality control programs.
 Take actions to deal with the results of delays, bad weather, or emergencies at construction site.
 Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and
resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
 Plan, organize, and direct activities concerned with the construction and maintenance of structures,
facilities, and systems.
 Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites, to ensure that proper procedures are
being carried out.
 Evaluate construction methods and determine cost-effectiveness of plans, using computers.
 Direct acquisition of land for construction projects.
 Schedule the project in logical steps and budget time required to meet deadlines
 Engage with local markets to find competent and reliable entrepreneurs related to future
construction work
 Evaluate and manage proposals for different technical studies related to construction
(geotechnical, hydrology and civil)
 Participate in the completion of the feasibility study and detailed design
 Be responsible for construction management on site during the construction period
 Manage the procurement process for the construction of the mine
 Frequent travels (6+ times per year) to the mine site during development. Fly-in fly-out during
construction
