Responsibilities include:

* Develop and implement a Social Closure Plan on site.

* Develop mine closure related guidance documents and provide training (knowledge sharing) where required.

* Manage a small team in implementing the Social Closure Plan.

* Provide leadership, strategy and direction in all matters related to a social closure planning.

* Provide the necessary departmental structure and direction to drive social performance.

* Budgeting and cost management for processes, projects and activities relating to social closure.

* Locate, engage and manage external area experts as required for specialized long-term project studies and implementation.

* Communicate regularly with the General Manager, departmental heads and corporate social resources on social closure.

* Liaise with relevant external stakeholders including local communities, civil society and all levels of government on social closure.

* Track and report on the implementation of the closure plan and social indicators on site.

* Perform all other duties as assigned.

The appointee will have:

* A formal qualification in social planning, social development or other social or developmental related studies.

* An understanding of appropriate regulations, legislation and relevant international reference material on social mine closure.

* Experience in planning and / or implementation of a social closure plan, community resettlement programs and community/stakeholders engagement within a large scale mining or industrial context.

* Ability to communicate in French or Arabic.

* Experience in a leadership or management role.

* The candidate will be self-motivated, ambitious and resilient with a history of successful team leadership and goal achievement.
