Round Mountain is an open-pit mine located in Nevada, one of the best mining jurisdictions in the world. The mine uses conventional open-pit mining methods and processes ore by mill and heap leach.

Job Description

Under the direction of the Project’s General Foreman, the Civil Engineer is responsible for performing feasibility studies, negotiating with stakeholders, solving development problems, allocating resources, and making sure working conditions are safe.  Performance of civil design calculations (grading, drainage, geometrics, etc.), preparation of plans and specifications, technical comparisons and similar technical work is also required. 

Job Responsibilities

  1. Prepares designs for engineering projects in accordance with general engineering principles and Murray City Standards. Designs, prepares drawings, specifications, bidding documents, contracts, and cost surveying, provides construction staking.
  2. Will estimates for road and storm drainage projects; conducts and coordinates design and construction
  3. work as part of a team on large engineering and construction projects
  4. Prepares reports of work accomplished and project status. Prepares project documents, monitors and complies with bidding procedures. Assists in the selection of engineering consultants.
  5. Conducts construction inspections, reviews contractor pay requests, and evaluates construction change orders.
  6. Assists and consults with other departments regarding engineering requirements on site development
  7. Assists in issuing engineering permits; corresponds with developers, contractors, other governmental agencies and the public on development and public works construction projects.

Education and Experience

  1. A bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Experience in construction inspection, surveying techniques, engineering design, and drafting desired (or similar related degree).
  2. 3-5 years related job experience.
  3. Working knowledge of civil engineering and design; working knowledge of public works construction and inspection; working knowledge of CAD systems
  4. Critical thinking with exceptional problem solving skills, able to work independently or in team environment.
  5. Efficiently organize and plan work tasks to meet company goals.
  6. Proactive, resourceful & highly motivated with good communication skills and ability to work in high output environment.
  7. Requires valid driver’s license
