Under minimal supervision, supervises, coordinates and oversees the Quality Program for the Technology Center.  Provides leadership and direction to the Quality Team and provides guidance and support to management. 

  • Oversees and leads the ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 programs at the Technology Center
  • Directly supervises Quality Team members as well as guides the team of Lead Auditors from the different departments
  • Leads/directs special analytical projects which includes gathering input and suggesting and implementing alternative solutions, analyzing equipment possibilities for proper collection, establishing a collection, tests and SOP’s for new processes, and implementing new processes with mine site personnel, as well, as TC Management and Technicians
  • Review test strategies and partners with Lab Management in order to develop/establish Quality standards and best practices
  • Collaborates with personnel leading OSHAS and ISO 14001 programs
  • Coordinates/facilitates audits (both internally and externally) to ensure conformance with ISO standards
  • Supports other technical projects at the Technology Center
  • Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five (5) years of related experience, including three (3) years of supervisory or lead experience
  • Demonstrated the use of statistical tools for process control
  • Good knowledge of key performance indicators
  • Ability to research and analyze data from various sources, draw relevant conclusions, share those conclusions with the customer and make appropriate changes based on the data
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, most frequently with people at the Manager, Chief and Sr level (Metallurgists, Geologists, Engineers) as well as Technicians
  • Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
  • Self-directed, leader with sound problem solving and negotiating skills
  • Ability to use various office software, including but not limited to MS Office
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time to Safford, Tucson, Morenci and other company sites as required



  • Three (3) years of experience as an ISO 9001 Lead Auditor
  • Experience in managing an ISO 9001 quality system in a lab environment
  • ISO 17025 experience
  • Six-Sigma certificate
  • Rational process facilitator experience
  • Software skills, LIMS, Minitab, PI
  • Spanish language skills


  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time to Safford, Tucson, Morenci and other company sites as required
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
