This position is located at the Henderson Mine, which is in an underground mine plant setting at an elevation of 10,800 feet above sea level. This may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles.
Provide leadership and mentor internal team members on contract controls procedure, challenges, and opportunities.  Oversee the contract request process and serves as the site expert to multiple disciplines and leadership teams in contract and contractor management activities.
  • Directly supervise the Contract Control Planners to meet contracting objectives and timelines on a daily basis
  • Responsible for setting meaningful objectives for the team, developing and maintaining effective working relationships with area supervisors, monitoring and quality control of the contract controls processes
  • Instrumental in ensuring that operational excellence is achieved through contracting activities
  • Support the operations with a safe job outcome and overall effectiveness
  • Apply expertise and knowledge in managing contracting activities to ensure appropriate daily, short term, and long-range plan and schedule is being followed and executed accordingly
  • Ensure quality control in the application of contracting processes and procedures
  • Lead and drive collaborative sourcing efforts with respective site leadership team in making insourcing/outsourcing decisions
  • Spend time in the field providing review of contractor job preparation, execution, and follow up
  • Ensure requirements are consistently accomplished to Freeport-McMoRan standards
  • Provide leadership and mentor team on the working knowledge of Company’s planning, contracting standards and processes and how best they can be utilized to reach the Company’s goals
  • Develop and generate reports and analyze data against key performance indicators for site management
  • Perform other duties as requested

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED and ten (10) years of experience in Maintenance, Mining/Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering, or a related field; OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in Maintenance, Mining/Manufacturing Operations, Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field
  • Working knowledge of contracting activities

  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English 
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Work is performed in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, and work on elevated platforms 
  • Occasionally may be required to lift up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the work day 
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
