Job Description: 
Provide HR leadership on the Operation to ensure that all HR transactional activities are managed; and that key relationships with internal and external stakeholders are developed and maintained; effective HR Planning including labour and workforce planning in support of Life of Mine planning and Annual budgeting is conducted.


  • Advise management on HR policies and procedures as well as legislative requirements and trade union agreements
  • Establish, maintain and oversee the training functions, employee relations and transformation, community development and communications for the operation
  • Assist in the development of attraction and retention strategies for talent as well as facilitate in the implementation of talent management practices (identification of talent, succession planning and the identification of emerging talent.); and ensure alignment between talent and training and development initiatives, where relevant.
  • Facilitate the implementation of a Performance Management system as to ensure staff performance are effectively managed and training needs identified
  • Effective people management, ensuring that roles are well defined and clarified and that competencies and learning paths are developed to human capacity and capability
  • Evaluate requirements of departmental staff, ensure that individuals are provided with the correct development opportunities, evaluate training courses as well as oversee the development of training material
  • Establish mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the organisation in support of its strategy, implement projects that will address their needs as per the Integrated Development Plans of the relevant Municipalities and the Provincial Growth and Development Strategies.  In doing so the role should establish Community Forums where they do not exist and ensure the effectiveness of existing forums, represent Company at community and Municipal Forums and other events
  • Responsible for the draughting, implementing and monitoring of the Social and Labour Plan and reporting on this to the Department of Minerals and Energy which will ensure that the growth of the company is secured

Requirements:Qualification and Skill

  • Post graduate degree or diploma in Human Resources or a related field
  • Membership with Human Resources (HR) professional bodies would be advantageous
  • 5 – 7 years’ experience in the Human Resources, of which at least 2 – 3 years should be at a management level
  • Experience in talent management and resourcing and dealing with trade unions
  • Experience in project managing an HR related project that included organisational transformation or change management
  • Broad HR background would be advantageous
  • CCMA experience is essential
