Job Description

The primary purpose of the ERT Member is to respond to a wide variety of calls, do physical firefighting work during fires of any kind perform rescues and handling Hazmat Incidents. It includes the handling of people, machinery and all equipment, as well as safety on scenes. Doing maintenance on equipment, vehicles, as well as station maintenance. Conduct training involving newest technology development on medical / Paramedical field, fire prevention, fire extinguishing- and rescue technique as well as Hazardous materials.


 Using sophisticated firefighting and rescue equipment
 Promoting fire safety via talks, advice, fire safety inspections and training sessions
 Inspecting and enforcing fire safety standards in Tasiast operational areas
 Demonstrating the use of firefighting and rescue equipment
 Performing practice drills individually and in a team
 Working with ER team and ambulance service personnel at all incidents
 Undertaking physical and academic training and self-development
 Checking and maintaining vehicles, equipment, fire station and fire suppression equipment

Job Responsibilities

 Ensure that Fire Safety Management is maintained in accordance with the NFPA standard.
 Determine and interpret legal and regulatory requirements, risk and hazard assessments, and vulnerability to human life, equipment and company assets related to fire safety management.
 Develop and update emergency preparedness management systems, planning concepts, incident management techniques, and hazard and risk analysis skills.
 Develop and maintain fire safety management systems.
 Ensure accurate communication is maintained and archived and promptly available at all times.
 Drive fire trucks and other emergency vehicles as assigned to
 Put out fires using water hoses, fire extinguishers, and pumps
 Find and rescue victims in burning buildings or in other emergencies, using specialized equipment, which may impair hearing and vision.
 Treat sick or injured people at incident
 Prepare written reports on emergency incidents
 Clean and maintain equipment, vehicles and fire station as assigned to
 Conduct fire and rescue drills and physical fitness training
 Provide public education on fire safety in operations areas
 Assisting flights during landings / take offs.
 Handling and responding to Hazardous Material incidents
 Conduct Fire Safety Inspection as assigned to
 Inspection, servicing and recharging of fire extinguishers.
 Following safety working policies and reporting needed changes or unsafe activities and conditions
 Preforming rescues in confined space and elevate heights with specialized rescue equipment.

Education and Experience

 High School level with certified military training preferable
 Previous experience as firefighter is an asset
 Certificate on first aid training is an asset
 Ability to prepare an emergency reporting
 Ability to read and write in English to some degree,
 Physical fitness is mandatory
 Having a valid driving truck license.
 Age criteria: 20 to 30 years

 Willing to participate in continuous training (mandatory)

 Ability to communicate and except instructions
 Good reporting writing and presentation skills
 Good organizational and team building skills
 Problem solving and systematic analysis
 Ability to assess situations and make clear decisions under pressure in extreme environmental conditions


 Comply with Kinross Tasiast HSE established health and safety policies, practices and Occupational Health and Safety Acts in the applicable jurisdiction
 Visibly practice safety leadership through leading by example
 Actively ensure a safe environment for yourself, your peers and local communities through regular communication and due diligence
 Promptly report and correct unsafe acts and conditions
 Drive the implantation of new HSE policies, standards and procedures in the ERT and HSE Department
 Focus on continual improvement of fire safety management systems and Emergency preparedness planning
 Proactively protect the environment, assets and safety of our employees and communities
