Senior Analyst - Continuous Improvement - Tasiast

Location: Tasiast, Inchiri region, Mauritania

Based in Mauritania, Kinross Tasiast is set to become one of the great gold finds of our generation. It is the first mine in a highly prospective greenstone belt, located within an extensive gold system that is largely underexplored.

Job Description

To provide analysis and implementation support to the Continuous Improvement Manager to ensure implementation of initiatives, methodologies, strategies and related techniques / technologies to enhance business activity through the considerable reduction of operating costs and the significant improvement of the efficiency of the company.

Job Responsibilities

• Providing effective analytical support to the Continuous Improvement Manager and AC Teams

• Act as Senior Advisor to the Business Improvement Team regarding production and cost data

• Conduct an evidence-based analysis to help the business improvement team prioritize, analyze root causes, and identify cost-cutting initiatives.

• Provide direct assistance to CA teams to empower them to structure and execute analyzes

• Train CA teams to significantly improve their analytical skills

• Correct deficient instruments and reports

• Provide analytical support to relevant departments in the preparation of weekly reports and updates

• Continually update the team's ideas database and follow up on any ideas raised

• Coaching the Business Improvement Manager to ensure effective implementation

• Train departmental CA teams and ensure quality control of work plans related to any idea

• Assist the department in determining the analytical requirements for implementing the ideas

• Train departmental CA teams to track the benefits of any new ideas

• Develop automated relationship tools (scorecards, performance charts)

• Promotion of the application of an AC methodology and the development of analytic skills specific to the activity

• Acquire a deep knowledge of the main concepts and instruments of improvement

• Gain a solid understanding of the key skills required to implement the Superintendent AC

• Improve skills through use / participation (value management, forms of initiatives, IGS)

• Improve implementation skills by getting directly involved in different departments

• Train departmental CA teams in the above areas and promote the benefits of continuous improvement throughout the site

• Training and support to department heads when implementing improvements within their respective departments

• Conduct a direct analysis to evaluate and confirm any opportunity and priority

• Facilitate and oversee the preparation of workshops to define priorities and proposals for improvement

• Provide advice on resources and support needed to create opportunities

• Assurance of the sustainability of the continuous improvement process in Tasiast

• Conduct periodic reviews of meetings and implementation of key AC instruments

• Detect problems and identify their solutions

• Implement changes and establish a structured control to ensure adequate follow-up

• Ensure that sustainability is an intrinsic feature of ideas and relationship improvements within the Identify Compliance / Gaps Department of existing and enhanced processes and suggest complementary improvements

• Creating and maintaining a relationship of trust between counselor, trainer and stakeholders to improve business activity

• Lay the foundation for a beneficial relationship between different stakeholders

• Build credibility by performing consistent, high quality analysis and caring for details

• Maintain a customer service approach within departments

• Preservation of effective channels and communication networks

• Provide continuous feedback on the level of satisfaction displayed by the different stakeholders

• Develop presentations to summarize progress achieved, specific updates applied and monthly meetings

• Open communication and feedback channels to employees and encourage them to participate in problem solving and decision-making processes

• Networking - using / involving any relevant person as well as business contacts

Education and Experience

• Master's degree in mining, chemical or metallurgical engineering, finance or related field

• Ambitious and technical engineer looking for a career in continuous improvement

• 2 years of experience in a continuous improvement position, analytical or industrial

• 4- 6 years of experience in the industry sector

Skills

• Excellent Microsoft Office computer skills, including Excel and Power Point

• Analytical and quantitative skills proven

• Ability to extract data from different platforms and use Excel and / or Minitab

• Excellent understanding of financial statements and mining concepts

• Attention to details

• Ability to work independently and in a team

• Ability to manage time and work effectively under pressure

• Analytical thinking
