SUPERINTENDENT GLOBAL SOURCING & LOGISTICS - KISANFU (CONTRACT) - DRC

(This contractor position will be located near Kolwezi, Democratic Republic of Congo)
 
Responsible for the management of all Global Sourcing and Logistics required to support FCX’s Kisanfu Project located in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Supervise a team of Buyers responsible for sourcing and procuring all goods required to support maintenance and operations in Lubumbashi, Kolwezi and outside the DRC.
Also responsible for the management and operation of the Kisanfu Exploration Camp.
This position reports to the General Manager.
 
Additional responsibilities:
 
1.         Supervise staff to meet procurement and sourcing performance objectives and deadlines on a daily basis.  Implement Global Supply Chain initiatives and objectives with team, track performance against those objectives and regularly provide feedback to employees, both verbally and in writing, in an effort to meet those objectives.
a)         Utilize procurement and sourcing tools and techniques with team to ensure customer needs are met at the lowest total cost. 
b)         Research and recommend procurement and sourcing techniques, best practices and strategies.
c)         Develop external sources of supplier, commodity, and market information which provide profile, financial, and industry information on selected suppliers and industries.
d)         Identify external price and market indices used to measure and track internal procurement performance, supplier performance, and market trends.
e)         Assist site management with special analyses of inventory control, turnover, cost of goods sold, back order rates, etc.
2.         Manage the logistics team for the transportation of personnel and goods to and from the Kisanfu site as well as in the region.
3.         Participate in the development, communication, and training of corporate procurement and sourcing processes.  Collaborate in or supervises the implementation of new or enhanced procurement and sourcing processes at assigned site.
4.         Measures and manages performance to ensure the effectiveness of the team, and resolves issues as needed.
5.         Support internal and external auditors and prepare financial information for annual reports and regulatory agencies.
6.         Effectively coach and mentor department employees; proactively support employee involvement and development; Counsel employees on performance standards; Complete and administer accurate and timely performance reviews.
7.         Manage camp personnel and facilities.
8.         Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field and five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field, OR
  • Master’s degree in Business, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in Supply Chain, Business, Accounting, Engineering or a related field.
  • Fluent in both French and English.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Respect of confidentiality.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to maintain positive attitude amidst challenging, sometimes isolated conditions.
  • Strict adherence to corporate procedure : Principles of Business Conduct, Anti-Corruption Policy, Community Policy, Environmental Policy, Human Rights Policy, Safety & Health Policy, Political Activity and Spending Practices, Supplier Code of Conduct.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Swahili is a plus.
