Job Title: Drilling Supervisor (Shallow/Deep Drilling)
Reports to: Operations Manager – Geotechnical Division
Direct reports: Assigned Staff

Basic Function

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Drilling Supervisor would supervise the drilling crew and day to day drilling operations. The incumbent would be responsible for efficient execution of drilling activities, ensure proper use and maintenance of equipment and develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to solve and troubleshoot drilling problems.

Key Accountabilities:

• Implementing drilling operations and ensuring that they are completed as per schedule;
• Planning, organizing and coordinating drilling operations;
• Make regular reports to the Operations Manager on the drilling operations ;
• Diagnose and resolve problems within and among work groups;
• Implement procedures with respect to quality of work, Environment and Health and Safety of the employees within the framework of the Integrated Management System;
• Prepare and implement preventive maintenance plans of drilling rigs;

Qualifications required:

• Suitable technical or vocational qualification in Drilling

Skills / experience required to do the job:

• Minimum of 10 years of working experience with drilling rigs in supervision of exploration and geotechnical drilling works ;
• Should have good experience working on rotary and wireline drilling rigs, leading driller, operating and maintaining many types of rigs in the field and managing field operations;
• Should have experience in most types of drilling and sampling techniques, including diamond drilling (PQ3, PQ & HQ), SPT, piston sampling;
• Should be familiar with inclined and vertical drilling (surface, shallow and deep hole);
• Should be experienced with RC drilling;
• Implementation and supervision on site safety standards including conducting safety briefings and tool box talks;
• Supervision in all aspects of the site works including logistics of drilling rigs and consumables;
• Facilitate and ensure the availability of materials, accessories required at site for drilling operations.
• Managed drilling project cost as well as progress.
• Proper usage of drilling accessories specially drill bits as per formation encountering. Able to evaluate the suitability of different type of drill bits under different subsurface conditions and the corresponding drilling method;
• Should have good communication skills, frequent English speaking and writing.
• Familiar with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems, work together with site supervisor and mechanics.
• Must be responsible for ensuring proper use and maintenance of equipment on site
• Should be a team builder and team player working with a multi-cultural workforce.
