Job Description

Provide knowledge and expertise on execution of all distribution warehouse operations processes (i.e. unpacking, receiving, transfer order processing, inspecting, controlling, storing, issuing, checking, packing, staging, counting and delivery) and value added services in accordance with PTFI Materials Management directives and policies and company procedures, to ensure the accuracy and availability of material stocks to support production targets and internal customer needs.  Lead implementation of process improvements in warehousing including zone picking, outbound staging & delivery, mobile device utilization and container unpacking and put-away efficiency that results in improved internal customer service, less bottlenecks within supply chain and better inventory accuracy.  The incumbent will also provide training to National Staff employees on warehousing, logistics and inventory in order to meet the department and Company requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

1.           Make recommendations for improvement in all aspects of the business which support materials delivery and implement these improvements with the target of increasing the efficiency, accuracy, reliability and on time delivery of materials.

2.           Evaluate and recommend improvements to Supply Chain processes, including warehousing, inventory management, and transportation

3.           Lead process improvement projects to increase effectiveness of SCM processes relating to the management of construction and bulk materials making them less manual and more integrated with SAP and the Remote Logistics Management of SAP.  Provide process redesign, SAP functional design, project management leadership for these type of projects and be key point of contact with stakeholders and MIS.

4.           Provide assistance and expertise in the design and implementation of processes, systems and physical locations to store and manage materials to support SCMs customers at site. This includes layout of the major yards in the Highlands and Lowlands, as well as the design and implementation of the processes to receive and verify materials to support the projects.

5.           Create AFEs when necessary to obtain funding to improve warehouse operations on site, including new or replacement warehouse facilities to better serve SCM customers and act as functional SME during construction phase to ensure the facilities meet our requirements upon completion.

6.           Serve as a subject matter expert in the implementation of new SAP functionality to better manage and track materials, including the implementation of the Project Stock capability.

7.           Liaise with Security & Risk Management to enforce proper security measures and protocols required to protect the materials. This includes working with 3rd party experts and the Warehouse to understand best practices, and managing the budgeting, approval and implementation of physical security controls in all relevant storage locations.

8.           Provide expertise and recommendations relating to SCM’s Container Tracking system.  Serve in a leadership role for the eventual expansion from container tracking to material tracking, especially as it relates to Project materials.

9.           Provide assistance and support to continue the development of the Lowlands Distribution Center and Overflow Transfer Center (OTC), which enables a key strategic transformation in Supply Chain. This includes supporting the development and refinement of the strategy, providing recommendations to optimize the workflow and space requirements, working with the LLDC and OTC project manager to establish project implementation plan, and monitoring the progress to avoid any unnecessary delays.

10.         Represent Supply Chain Management with other organizations requiring materials from SCM, and support their materials needs as necessary. This includes participation in meetings with end users, updating material status, conflict resolution and, process improvement.

11.         Develop reporting and metrics using business objects to measure SCM performance relating to Construction Materials and Bulk materials management.  Use that reporting to identify the root causes of sub-standard performance and create and implement plans to correct and improve performance.

12.         Enforce the implementation of company safety and environmental policies to achieve all operational activities in line with such policies.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Business or equivalent work experience relative to supply chain with a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience.  Expert level knowledge in inventory management, warehousing and logistics, and advanced knowledge in other areas of the supply chain.  Functional knowledge and experience in mining or minerals processing environment.

  • Expert knowledge in inventory management, warehousing and logistics, with functional knowledge in all other aspects of the supply chain.

  • Advanced knowledge of the Enterprise Resource Planning application (SAP) and advanced knowledge in computer and computer software operations with specific functional expertise in the Warehouse Management (WM), Remote Logistics Management and SAP Mobile modules of SAP.

  • Complex Project Management and long-term planning skills.

  • Advanced knowledge of the principles of finance and accounting.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Engineering and/or Business Administration preferred.
