Job Description

The Human Resources Project Specialist ensures HR projects are being developed and implemented in line with the HR strategic plan.  This position is responsible for executing HR projects related to HR strategic initiatives, business transformations and inclusion & diversity program (approximately 50% of this role will be dedicated to inclusion & diversity). This role actively engages in and supports discussions by sharing best practices from external organizations and different functions in the organization.

Job Responsibilities
  • Leads special projects which identify and resolve critical issues and implements HR programs, policies and practices aligning to strategic objectives
  • Leads cross-functional and international teams; coordinates the efforts of various team members to ensure timelines and deliverables are met
  • Drives an evolving culture, awareness and adoption by fostering highly collaborative and effective working relationships based on trust and value
  • Researches information to support decision making and improve projects
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, business cases, requirements and presentations for on-going projects
  • Conducts project post-mortems and proposes recommendations to identify both successful and unsuccessful portions of the project
  • Provides specialist support and expertise to enable the implementation of the inclusion and diversity strategy
  • Builds and manages strong relationships with different functions across the organization
  • Stays current on best practices and trends related to HR, and incorporates this information into work assignments and/or to improve products or services provided
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures for continual improvements in efficacy and effectiveness of project design and execution
  • Contributes to the development of human resource policies and practices
  • Contributes to the design, roll-out, and training of new programs, events, initiatives, and system-related processes
  • Prepares, analyzes and interprets information related to HR activities, ensuring accurate reports and analyses are completed and shared with functions and management as required
  • Represents the company and builds/manages relationships with external partners and/or vendors
Education and Experience

Required Qualifications Education:

  • University degree or diploma in Business, Human Resources, or related discipline
  • Additional specialized education of up to 2 years
  • Professional in Human Resources (e.g., CHRL, CPHR, PHR, SPHR) certification preferred

Required Qualifications Experience:

  • 5 - 8 years of related work experience or equivalent. Previous experience working in an HR Projects / Generalist capacity in a global and/or public organization will be considered an asset
  • Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred
  • Strong business acumen
  • Complete understanding of Human Resources
  • Extensive knowledge of policies, practices, and procedures related to the function
  • Ability to influence and interact with senior leaders throughout the organization
  • Proven professionalism in dealing with colleagues, employees, leaders, third-party vendors, and other stakeholders
  • Project management and change management skills
  • Well-developed problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to learn quickly with superior attention to detail
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
  • Excellent organization skills with ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment with demanding deadlines and/or changing priorities
  • Ability to work with confidential information and materials
  • Capable of effectively working both independently and/or as part of a team
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently that supports the company guidelines and procedures
  • Demonstrated proficiency using HRIS; Performance, Compensation, and Learning Management Systems; and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
