Position: Crane & Lifting Supervisor  Duration: 2 years

Summary of Role

This is a 2-year contract, fly-in fly-out role: 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off roster with travel in company time
to our Sabodala mine site in Senegal.

Key Responsibilities

• Day to day operation of all site mobile cranes in a safe and cost-effective manner
• Inspection of all lifting equipment is carried out and the rigging equipment register is accurate
and up to date
• Ensuring the crane meets inspection requirements prior to initial use.
• Permitting critical lifting operations, such as multiple crane lifts, only after the applicable
procedures are implemented.
• Effective execution for shutdowns to ensure optimum run time
• Lead crane lift study activities and ensure crane operations are coordinated with other site
activities.
• Exercise supervisory control over the worksite and day to day work activities related to cranes
and lifting.
• Assessment and competency management of current crane operators in rigging and lifting
duties
• Ensuring the operators meet requirements of the applicable standards and procedures.
• Organization, development and delivery of Crane operator Training
• Develop the staff to international and industry best practice to ensure optimal services are
delivered
• Ensure all relevant site and legislative documentation is fulfilled, filed and managed in accordance
with the required standards

Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in Lifting Operations in mining industry
• Qualified and certified with practical/theoretical knowledge to the industrial standard. Crane
tickets that enable operation of all site mobile cranes.
• Full knowledge of safe work systems (Lift Plan and/or work instructions) and the duties of all
persons involved in the lifting operations.
• Understanding of relevant information relating to different types of lifting accessories i.e.
markings, certificates, WLL etc.
• Conversant with relevant standards and requirements in relation to mobile / gantry / overhead
cranes and rigging requirements
• Successfully completed a Rigger course, Signal Operator course and Lifting Supervisor Safety
Course
• Proficiency in MS Word & Excel; experience using a CMMS is required
• Truck driving licence
• Light vehicle driver’s license
• Certificate IV Training and Assessing is desirable
• Excellent time management & organizational skills and must be able to work in a team environment
• Strong English communication skills (bilingual French, an asset)
• Experience working with multi-national workforce in remote work locations (preferably in West Africa)
• Proven ability in effectively mentoring and coaching employees to facilitate career development
