Job Description

Working with internal and external stakeholders the Supply Chain Analyst - Procurement supports the Senior Manager, Strategic Procurement, and site procurement teams with the execution of procurement processes for the acquisition of materials, equipment and services required for the operations. Analysts will support the assurance of the continuity of supply of goods and services at the lowest total cost of ownership possible, achieving industry best practices.  

Job Responsibilities

Meet requirements of internal customers and established goals, policies and procedures by developing and implementing appropriate procurement and category strategies.

Work with team members and stakeholders to develop appropriate sourcing and contracting strategies and plan.

Help prepare internal scope of work documentation and optimal commercial structure.

Understands and manages business requirements for assigned categories. Prepare RFP/RFQ/RFI packages and execute programs in accordance with industry best practices.

Co-ordinates and manages all activities during procurement and sourcing cycle, including preparation of procurement packages, managing clarification questions, issuing addenda, evaluating supplier proposals, other communications and evaluating conforming proposals. 

Performs commercial analysis of proposals received; manage clarification process and support negotiation preparation conditions in collaboration with global, site and regional procurement teams with the view of reducing the company’s cost and risk exposure.

Works with legal and other stakeholders to review & understand exceptions to terms and conditions; assess legal and commercial issues associated with requested changes to identify business risks.

Assures availability of goods and services through robust contract management practices and when necessary, develops and negotiates contract amendments or renewals as required.

Develops and maintains positive internal and external working relationships; conducts business in a discreet, professional and tactful manner with business partners.

Participates in vendor management process to ensure compliance and performance as required.

Administers documentation according to Company policies and procedures.

Creates, develops and controls reporting and research in relation to procurement and market activities and trends.

Analyzes and suggests implementation of processes and system improvements

Develops support tools for the procurement process as required

Serves as a resource to customers in the area of procurement

Identifies problems or roadblocks and works to develop and implement potential solutions. Actively participates in the development and implementation of action plans and oversees them as appropriate

When necessary, implements a governance structure, a communication plan, and/or tracking mechanisms to ensure results are achieved


Education and Experience

Undergraduate Degree (Engineering, Business, Commerce or Legal programs preferred) or a technology diploma in mining discipline or equivalent relevant experience

Five years of experience related to procurement in mining, oil & gas, forestry or heavy manufacturing

Strong knowledge of procurement principles and processes, commercial terms and procurement to pay business systems and ability to provide leadership in the preparation of sourcing documents

Understands RFP processes, protocols and industry best

Ability to communicate in French, Portuguese or Russian an asset not mandatory

Experience working with ERP systems (Oracle, SAP, and JD Edwards) is an asset

Experience working with complex supply agreements

Experience implementing and managing Supplier Relationship Management programs

Expert in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Attention to detail, analytical rigor and ability to be error-free is required

Proven ability to multitask and re-prioritize as business and procurement needs change

Must work in a team environment with the view of achieving common goals

Organized, self-motivated and able to work independently

Position requires multitasking across job responsibilities

Available to work non-standard work hours when required

International travel to mine sites required (25-35%)
