Job Description

 

To provide technical support to Tasiast by managing a portfolio of projects from feasibility to commissioning consistent with Kinross Values and Policies.

Areas of responsibilties & Duties

 

  • Comply with all TMLSA Occupational Health and Safety requirements as well as those required as per Mauritanian regulations. Ensure that all TML SA Policies and Procedures are adhered to by employees assigned to their Supervision
  • Accept personal responsibility for the health and safety of every worker under or assigned to his/her supervision.
  • Project manage an assigned portfolio of projects to the defined scope, budget, schedule, standards, and specifications and in accordance with relevant processes and standards for the Department.
  • Lead a team of Engineers, Draftsman & Supervisors to deliver projects safely, on budget, to schedule, and within the scope.
  • Scoping and oversight of fabrication/construction related to projects from concept to commissioning.
  • Produce Scopes of Supply/Fabrication and Scopes of Construction/Installation for the Company to use in bidding the construction of projects. 
  • Provide input into the capital portfolio and related budgets, plans and schedules. Where required, support feasibility studies, cost-benefits analyses, impact assessments and project business cases to obtain project approvals.

  • Deliver successful project execution outcomes measured in terms of safety, time, cost and quality.
  • Interface and support the team to resolve contractual issues, technical matters and services support.
  • Managing change, recording and obtaining authorisation in accordance with Project Change Management Procedures.
  • Lead risk assessments and design reviews on the engineering and infrastructure options.
  • Assist in the development and continuous review of project execution strategies.
  • Ensure suitable use of available time and resources against priorities to support the delivery of projects.
  • Ensure compliance with mining, safety, and environmental laws and regulations.
Mandatory skills and requirements for this position

  • Relevant Mechanical/Electrical Trade or Engineering Degree qualification
  • At least five (5) years supervisory/project management experience in the construction industry
  • High level of enthusiasm for the work with high performance goals
  • Strong ability to lead and work effectively with people
  • Strong interpersonal, influencing and communication skills
Desirable Skill, Knowledge, Training, and Experience

 

  • Previous work experience in a large process plant facility (crushing/milling/grinding)
  • Intermediate computer skills of Windows 2013, MS Word, MS Excel and MS Project
  • Intermediate written and spoken English language competency
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, JDE maintenance system
  • Additional specialized education of up to 2 years
