Summary of Role

This is a fly-in fly-out role: 8 weeks on / 4 weeks off roster with travel in company time to our new Wahgnion operations in Burkina Faso. 


Key Responsibilities

The position reports to the Processing Manager & will be responsible to optimise the utilisation of the Power Station and associated power generation infrastructure. To provide uninterrupted supply of electrical power to all site installations on the Wahgnion internal power grid, maintain a HV reticulation and distribution network and to assist with the installation of other electrical and power generation requirements within the mine foot print.

·       Manage the day to day operations of the Power Station 

·       Uphold the principles of Teranga safety and environmental policies

·      Promotea culture of continuousimprovement

·       Oversee a team of local supervisors.

·       Effective and timely maintenance scheduling and planning.

·       Contractor management

·       Fault finding and rectification.

·       Provide input into the development of the departmental budget

·       Compliance with budgetary expenditure

·       Timely reporting

·       Liaise with Processing Operations for coordination of system restarts.

·       Staff development

·       Clear and effective communication – oral and written.

·       Maintain HV transmission lines across site


Required Skills & Experience

·       Minimum trade background as a fitter, mechanical or electrician.

·       10+ years experience working in large powered stations up to 50mW

·       Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in an Expat environment, preferably within Western Africa

·       Fluency in English and French, both verbal and written, is required

·       Proficiency in diesel power generation control systems.

·       CMMS experience essential – Pronto desirable

·       Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

·       Train the trainer qualifications desirable.

·       Excellent leadership and management skills with proven ability to motivate and empower team

·       Experience working with multi-national workforce in remote work locations; must possess strong cultural sensitivity and be able to execute work successfully in a different culture.  

·       Excellent analytical, organizational, communication and problem-solving skills

·       Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency

·      Ability to manage and develop staff

·      Resilience and resourcefulness
