Job Description

To oversee activities related to the modeling and analysis of geological information or processes and to ensure service and / or operating standards are met (internally and / or externally). To design and develop processes, practices and methodologies in geology.

Job Responsibilities

Responsible for geological interpretation and resource estimation supporting the company’s operations, exploration and merger and acquisitions activities

Assists in establishing best practice processes as they relate to grade control, reconciliation and resource modelling at the company’s operations

Assists with the consolidation of the company’s resources and reserve estimates at the corporate level

Monitors regulatory compliance with respect to mineral resource and mineral reserve estimates

Provides geological and resource modelling support of operations and development projects

Participates in due diligence reviews and compilation of engineering studies

Develops understanding of surface and underground mine engineering, metallurgical testing, mineral processing, cost estimation and construction methodologies

Occasionally travels to various sites globally

Management of multiple technological projects simultaneously

Advises on a variety of internal and / or external requests regarding geographical modeling and grade control

Monitors costs related to mine geology and implements approved recommendations for maximizing operational efficiencies

Investigates, researches, and analyzes information and issues related to geological modeling and grade control

Identifies / analyzes areas of interest for potential exploration targets

Prepares business cases regarding projects and initiatives and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders

Prepares technical reports and documentation to ensure compliance with industry and operational requirements

Calculates ore reserves, defines geological structures and executes mine exploration programs

Education and Experience

• University degree in related field
• Formal professional or technical designation in mine geology

• 3 – 5 years of related work experience or equivalent
• Previous experience in the mining industry is preferred


• Knowledge and understanding of mine geology
