The Role: The fundamental underlying value for our company and its business is provided by the mineral resources and the quality of the grade control applied at mine sites and development projects to ensure operational quality and provide adjustments to the long term resources estimation. The role includes responsibility for development of corporate grade control technical standards and reconciliation techniques to be followed within the organization. The role also involves reviews and recommendations for project evaluation or project development studies of different deposits.
Oversee the Grade Control and reconciliation procedures on behalf of the company in the role of Qualified Person (QP).
Review and audit grade control and related QA/QC techniques and procedures and short term ore control block models and prepare corporate summary report of results
Ensure that the reconciliation factors and grade control resource and reserve estimations are uniform and conform to industry and company standards.
Have regular visits and discussions with site Chief Geologists and Technical/Geological Superintendents at each operating site or development projects about the techniques, parameters and assumptions used in the grade control and reconciliations.
Prepare on a quarterly basis a reconciliation report for the company management, the Reserve and Resource Subcommittee (SER) of the Board, and interact with the SER Subcommittee as needed
Stay informed of new procedures, regulations or standards that can affect reconciliation reporting requirements and disseminate this information as appropriate
Review the application of the corporate Standard across the organization and take action as needed to ensure conformity
Provide Grade Control and reconciliation practices across IAMGOLD and support the implementation of best practices, and implement innovation and continuous improvement to systematically improve our ability to accurately predict the metal content in the various ore deposits at our sites.
Regularly review reconciliation reports and procedures to confirm that ore control resource and reserve models are performing within acceptable ranges versus long-term R&R models and process plant results.
Maintain a close liaison with the Manager Resources estimation to ensure that findings from reconciliation studies are appropriately incorporated into future resource and reserve estimation efforts for the operating deposits, with the goal of continuously improving estimation accuracy.
Act as the coordinator of the IAMGOLD Mining Geology group. This task may include organizing regular workshops, teleconferences, managing on line forums, regular communication, etc with corporate, sites and project teams.
Support Internal Audit, SOX audit or third party consultants when needed, ensure that the interface with the consultant is appropriately managed, monitor the review process.
Provide technical support to Mine Geologists professionals at the sites, including Software implementation related to Grade Control.
Help in the development of the IAMGOLD Reconciliation and Grade control Guidance document and maintain this document current through periodic review.
Review grade control drilling and sampling programs and associated QA/QC processes and results to ensure that the sampling and assaying is of acceptable quality.
Interface as needed with the mining and metallurgy departments in the light of addressing reconciliation aspects and continuous improvement in grade prediction and reconciliation.
Provide Mining Geology guidance and estimation support for Development Studies and Due Diligence Evaluations
Supervision or direct involvement in the preparation of Mining Geology and reconciliation with geologic and resource models, including QA/QC and operational data analysis. Alternatively, the work may involve peer review and comment and/or audit and analysis of exploitation results and reconciliation prepared by other internal or third party experts.
Recommend grade control procedures, support and recommendations for mining geology for advanced development projects and mining sites.
This work will normally involve preparation of reports or report sections describing the work done and the results obtained. In the case of Due Diligence Evaluations, the reports will also require expert opinion and commentary on the results and potential improvement expected from those recommendations.

Take an active role in monitoring the career development of all Mine Geology professionals within the organization, including acting as a direct mentor for high potential individuals (including direct and indirect reports).
What we look for:
Graduate in Geology or Geological engineering
Professional Certification as specified in the requirements under NI 43-101
At least 12 – 15 years of experience in exploration and mining geology.
Experience in both underground and surface mining to fully understand the economic aspect of resource estimation.
Fluent in French and English.
Ability to plan and implement effectively and achieve results.
