Job Description

Ensures smooth and efficient transitions from home to host country for all KGML expatriate employees and ongoing administration of all related programs.  The Specialist, manages and fulfills certain key daily processes, including all assignment related documentation, data input to JDE, communication with internal stakeholders related to expatriate payroll and benefit administration amongst others.  The Specialist may be the first point of contact for the KGML employees’ queries. 

Job Responsibilities

Manages policy and processes relating to Global Mobility.  Acts as first point of contact for KGML employees

  • Prepares all KGML offers in accordance with the Global Mobility Policy.  Ensures consistent interpretation and application of the policy.
  • Manages end-to-end relocation process for KGML expatriates, coordinating all aspects between internal departments and sites, and with external providers.  Includes: relocation, payroll, tax, immigration, health & dental benefits, and all other benefits under the Global Mobility Policy.
  • Acts as first point of contact for KGML expatriates throughout the relocation process and the duration of their assignment, explaining the Global Mobility Policy and benefits available to them, answering questions, and providing guidance and support as required.
  • Responsible for coordination with external providers on any changes or issues relating to benefits, compensation, tax, immigration, etc.
  • Calculates cost of living allowances, using data / systems provided by a third party.  Monitors and communicates changes to these allowances.
  • Provides summary reports and other information as required.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve the Global Mobility Policy, procedures or processes, and implements changes as required.


Monitors external providers

  • Maintains good relationships with external providers (relocation services, tax, immigration, benefits, compensation, etc.)


Acts as internal expert on Global Mobility

  • Keeps up to date on trends in international compensation & benefit programs, and provides recommendations for changes to existing programs


  • Assists with non-routine projects according to specific instructions


Education and Experience


  • 3-5 years of related work experience, in a versatile, high performance environment specializing in expatriate issues, and a knowledge of international compensation, benefits, payroll, taxation and relocation
  • Experience working in the resource industry is considered an asset



  • Fluency in written and verbal English is a requirement
