The Role:

The Payroll Lead will manage employee salaries and wages, remit statutory deductions, and generate required reports. To provide payroll information to employees and managers, and reconcile with General Ledger.


Your Responsibilities:


Manage monthly payroll:

Manages the design, communication and implementation of RGM payroll process ensuring that RGM employees will receive their salaries in time and correct;
Liaises with Internal and External auditors with regards to audits on the Payroll process;
Liaises with Tax Authority to ensure Payroll tax compliance;
Reviews and verifies all exceptions, additions, and changed payroll data into the payroll system: by conducting verification checks on details reflected on payroll balances to determine accuracy and completeness of payroll run;
Manages and controls Master File changes (Salary components, tax rates, compliance to CLA, etc.);
Ensures employee listings are up-to-date;
Manages efficient and effective communication with HR, in order to maintain accurate and timely preparation of payroll;
Coordinates the availability of sufficient funds in order to be able to pay employees in time with Treasury;
Administers activities related to special payments such as Production Bonuses, General retroactive salary adjustments, etc. Ensuring these are coordinated to meet specific objectives;
Analyses and resolves problems in order to eliminate hindrances, improves quality of service, and efficiency of the payroll system;
Manages a proper filing system for easy retrieval of information;
Ensures proper and timely distribution of payroll related information to the responsible line Managers, or directly to the employees;
Ensures familiarity and knowledge with Surinam Labor, Social and Tax laws;
Reconciliation of payroll to GL;
Reviews payroll for accurateness/reasonableness before signoff by authorized signatories;
Manages documentation of all procedures related to payroll such as documentation of the Payroll Cycle, important payroll rules;
Manages International SOX and Audit procedures and standards;
Responsible for ensuring all required Internal Controls are in place and function effectively;
Prepares ad hoc analyzes for Management when required;
Ensures the confidentiality of the employee and salary information.
Reporting;

Completes the management of all reporting requirements;
Preparation of audit files, and direct link with the auditors regarding all payrolls;
Manages all journal entries related to payroll;
Ensures proper and timely production and distribution of periodical, monthly, quarterly and yearly payroll reports to Management, or upon request of Management.


Qualifications

What we look for:

Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting
5-8 years of work experience in related function
Strong analytical skills, including automation mindset to departmental reporting
Knowledge of Oracle and proficiency in Microsoft Office
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external stakeholders and ability to work with all levels of the organization
Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
Ability to organize and prioritize job duties
Being able to act quickly on a wide range of requests and have attention to detail
Ability to drive and implement change
Flexibility in working hours when business requires so
Genuine interest in Mining Operations and how the payroll function integrates with it
Willing and eager to learn
