The Role:

To develop and oversee the delivery of training programs throughout the mine site, ensuring site safety, loss control, employee development and environmental compliance with special focus on mine and mill operations.

Your Responsibilities:

Key Area: Conduct training needs analysis and oversee the development and the delivery of effective training programs at the mine site.

Duties:

Develop the short- and intermediate-term strategies that support growth of the employee training at the mine site; ensures strategies are concretely linked to the organization’s overall strategy
Identify training needs or gaps.

Sets priorities and allocates resources for the department

Determine source of any gaps and appropriate method to close the gaps.

Provide internal and external training.

Oversee experienced employees who are providing additional training.

Acts as a change agent for areas related to employee training including assessing readiness to engage in change efforts; and designing and implementing change strategies

Foresees and removes barriers to training program success and escalates major issues to Senior Management

Collaborates with cross functional teams and considers the business impact of decisions on diverse groups; influences others to achieve project goals often without direct authority

Key Area: To advise the management group on employee training.

Duties:

Prepares business cases and reports regarding training programs and initiatives and presents recommendations and status updates to key stakeholders
Conduct research to determine appropriate sources.

Purchase training modules.

Prepare internal material and tests for individual training modules and needs.

Influences leaders and key stakeholders to buy into change efforts that will result in sustained competitive advantage

Identifies the need for and develops company-wide standards, procedures, and policies and ensures compliance with industry and professional regulations

Ensures all training programs are integrated with other business activities and that regional and functional interests are represented; ensure redundancies across improvement projects are minimized

Have training material reviewed by peers and supervisor prior to use.

Key Area: To lead and manage a team responsible for executing an employee training strategy

Duties:

Sets performance targets and measures, monitors and manages overall performance of the function and direct reports
Ensures there is a comprehensive and effective succession management strategy in place for the function; identifies succession role requirements and high potential talent and actively develops key talent

Identifies strategies and key performance goals and acts as an advisor to direct reports; works to overcome challenges and barriers and minimize risk

Builds the capabilities of the team to enhance [function]’s ability to achieve financial and operating strategy; hires appropriately, leverages the talents of the function and takes corrective action where necessary



Qualifications

What we look for:

BA or BS in related area preferred.

“Train the Trainer” certification

Formal professional designation in applicable area of expertise.

A minimum 8 years of related work experience.

Management experience.

Preference for open pit mining experience

Asset would be knowledge of autonomous equipment
