Maintenance Specialist - Cote Gold Mine site

The Role:

To oversee the effective maintenance (machinery, mechanical, electrical) of mill equipment and to direct and manage all maintenance activities including planning, budgeting, staffing, cost containment, and profitability. To analyze maintenance information and provide direction in the development of mine/mill plans.


Your Responsibilities:

Key Area: To oversee and implement maintenance production programs and operations, to maximize production efficiency, infrastructure performance and resources.

Duties:

Support the implementation of the Enterprise Resource Planning Software (ERP) along with the implementation of the maintenance systems.
Whenever possible, support the engineering and/or construction team.

Establish an overall strategy for maintenance and production based on input from other departments including targets, goals and priorities.

Direct the implementation and execution of the maintenance plans and targets.

Develop and direct the implementation of operational programs, processes and policies to meet organizational governance requirements and standards.

Set maintenance production budget using information from the overall mine budget and business plan targets.

Establish maintenance targets, ensuring mill output in the mining plans are achieved.

Advise and support the purchasing of new and used equipment for the mine/ mill.

Investigate options and recommend short and long term projects and approaches to enhance efficiency and cost effectiveness of maintenance operations.

Stay abreast of mining laws and safety regulations, and issue directives to direct reports to ensure adherence to applicable rules and regulations.

Key Area: Work with the mill management team and the operation team to establish the overall strategy for mill maintenance:

Duties:

Work with the management team to set the direction and establish the mid- to long-term operations and project development plans for the maintenance department.
Provide advice to the management team regarding the development and implementation of the mill budget.

Provide expert advice throughout the site on maintenance processes and practices.

Identify options and implement actions to adopt best practices for maintenance practices.

Key Area: Provide leadership to the maintenance team.

Duties:

Build an appropriate team through recruitment and development.
Ensure that training is provided to meet with the current and future needs of the mine.

Ensure the necessary manpower and equipment is in place to meet production goals, within budgeted costs.

Provide clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required to achieve business objectives and production goals.

Manage performance by setting expectations, conduct performance reviews and providing feedback and coaching to direct reports.



Qualifications

What we look for:

University or College degree in mechanical, industrial or electrical engineering.

Professional designation or certification in a related area.

Minimum 10 years of maintenance related experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience at a supervisory level.

Minimum of 15 years of experience if incumbent holds certification only

Solid working knowledge of maintenance methods (equipment repair), procedures & maintenance management.

A sound knowledge of power distribution and infrastructure management.

Strong leadership and personnel development skills.

Good understanding and working knowledge of the applicable legislation and regulations for mines and milling plants.

To lead by example while imparting required technical and ethical knowledge

The ability to resolve technical issues without external support; comprehensive / creative trouble shooting.

The ability to adapt or deal with social and political issues associated with a third world environment.

Computer literate in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Oracle, AutoCAD, and various maintenance softwares.
