Job Description:
Our client has an urgent vacancy for an Engineering Manager for their operations in Lesotho. The main purpose is to be in charge of all general machinery, which includes design, installation and maintenance.


  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and company standards
  • Entrenching the Company’s Safety, Health and Environmental Management Program
  • Develop and manage the operational budget
  • Set maintenance standards in line with production targets develop and maintenance business relationship with stakeholders
  • Managing contractors
  • Provide technical support to subordinates
  • Performance management of subordinates
  • Implement and manage systems to ensure safe and uninterrupted production
  • Investigate accidents and ensure that appropriate remedial actions are implemented at all operations to proactively reduce risk
  • Monitor key performance indicators and ensure timeous and relevant reaction to anomalies
  • Ensure projects are properly assessed and executed and capital effectively managed
  • Drive optimisation in areas of availability, reliability, operability and cost control
  • Share in other engineering responsibilities and represent the company on forums, committees or task teams as and when required.
  • Assist to create and revise standards

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

  • B Eng / B Sc Eng (Mechanical or Electrical) Degree
  • GCC (Mines and Works)
  • Driver’s License (Code B)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a Managerial position in Mining Industry
  • Must have strong open pit experience, diamond mining experience beneficial
  • Well developed managerial and technical acumen
  • Must possess strong cultural sensitivity and be able to execute work successfully in a different culture
  • Demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring and developing local/national staff in a developing country
  • Demonstrated commitment to ensuring a safe working environment Company structures, policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Engineering operation principles
  • Budgeting and Cost control skills
  • Presentation and Report writing skills
  • Skilled in complex problem solving
  • Financial Management Skills
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Office)
