Role Purpose

Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards and Employee Experience, the Manager, Executive Compensation supports all executive compensation activities including the preparation of HRCC meetings and proxy circular documents, by gathering, organizing and analyzing compensation data and reports. The Manager, Executive Compensation acts as the data and metrics expert within the Total Rewards team and supports the team in multiple compensation projects.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

Key Area: Human Resources and Compensation Committee (HRCC) to the Board of Directors Support:


During the weeks preceding each HRCC meeting, prepare the analysis, documents and presentation required for each meeting
React promptly to last minute requests, audit own work in a very methodical manner
Support the Director in all requests related to the HRCC
Act as the subject matter expert of Equilar database and ISS platform and pro-actively provide analysis
Key Area: Management Information Circular / Proxy Circular Support:


Create and keep up-to-date the proxy data file used to gather internal and extern data for disclosure (SEDI, Solium, pension statements, payroll statements, share price, info from Finance, etc.)
Create the required tables and graphs for the proxy circular
Keep in order for peer review and audit trail
Key Area: Executive Compensation Support:


Manage the review of the global ESPP program
Calculate annual grants and manage all aspects of the grants from employee communications, including getting the Black-Scholes value, coordinating with securities paralegal, and following up on grant reception approval from employees; perform same complete coordination for the board members annual grants
Prepare analysis related to executive and share based compensation, for example running the various pay-for-performance tests, dilution rates, executive share ownership reporting, etc.

Demonstrate leadership in sustainable development and health and safety by continuously adopting and demonstrating a good example.

Scope of Responsibility & Complexity

This position acts as a subject matter expert in executive compensation. The essence of the role is also to do analysis, to be an expert at numbers and details, and understand the complexities of executive compensation. The complexity is in the technical knowledge, the manipulation of a lot of numbers, the absence of room for errors and the stress that may come with short timeline requests from executives or board members.


Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Bachelor degree in mathematics, finance or human resources with a strong aptitude for compensation, or related area
Minimum 4-6 years of related experience of working with numbers and having to master complex concepts; for example working as an analyst or manager in a compensation consulting firm
Overall experience 7-10 years of experience in compensation or finance
Additional Competencies

Familiar with ISS and Glass Lewis methodology
Expert level of Excel
Love working with data for intense periods
Able to audit own work and be systematic, organized and focused
With a sense of urgency, be able to handle the pressure of short deadlines, high volume, sudden shift in priorities
This is an individual contributor with specific expertise role with a requirement to manage projects within executive compensation
