The Role:

To provide geological information for the optimum extraction of the ore body and to collect, analyze and model geological information and provide results.

Your Responsibilities:

Key Area: Research and prepare geological data to assist in determining the feasibility of mining


Map and model production areas.
Provide information on infill production drill programs.
Prepare geological interpretation and modeling.
Identify areas of interest for potential exploration targets.
Analyze resource estimation and generation of grade control models

Key Area: Provide information on grade control by way of mapping, sampling, compilation and interpretation of results


Provide information on accurate borehole cutting and muck sampling.
Review accuracy of production dig line mark-ups.
Provide information on ore / waste boundaries.
Analyze blast hole and/or reverse circulation data, including survey data.
Anticipate problems with blast grade variances.
Provide information on ground control and other geologically related issues.
Continually improve existing processes in both grade and ground control. Provide feedback to clients and participate in dig plan meetings.
Assign grade to mined ore and maintain production and grade control summary data and reports.
Recommend improvements for existing grade control processes. Optimize the sampling method.

Key Area: Provide information on production and efficient methods for the extraction of ore and waste.


Maintain databases and analyze data for production and reconciliation purposes.
Provide information on ground control and other geologically related issues.
Continually improve existing processes in both grade and ground control.
Continuously increase the knowledge of the deposit that will facilitate better ore delineation and define possible exploration and mine expansion targets.
Reconcile mine versus mill figures and mine versus reserve and resource figures.

Key Area: Supervise team members


Determine needs in terms of personnel
Train employees and provide support and technical assistance
Establish and define personal objectives. Participate in developing the skills of team members. Provide and meet the needs of development, support and technical improvement
Conduct daily site inspections/visits of the work areas to ensure safe work systems are followed
Ensure that employees adhere to Company’s HSS Management Plan (ISO Standard 14001), Code of Conduct
Adhering to mining standards in place at the Operation; and mining regulations, standards, codes and laws required by the Government of Canada and Government of Ontario


What we look for:
University degree in geology.

Registration as a professional geoscientist or eligibility for such registration

5 years of geology experience in a mining environment, open pit experience is preferred.

Background in geologic models of ore systems and exploration techniques

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization

Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented

Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality

Ability to work with others in a team environment

Ability to organize and prioritize job duties

Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions
