General Foreman, Mill Mechanical - Rosebel Mine Site

The Role:

To execute maintenance plans by providing direction and supervision to the maintenance supervisory employees and ensuring that asset optimization schedules and programs are met and maintenance/ mechanical work is performed in the safest and most cost effective manner.

Your Responsibilities:

Plan and oversee scheduled maintenance mechanical operations:
Sets production goals, schedules, priorities and allocates resources; analyzes maintenance/ mechanical functions and makes adjustments to crew size as demands change
Monitors efficiency of all maintenance teams
Provides guidance to supervisory employees in the planning and design of work headings
Communicates information to supervisors about priorities and required changes to priorities
Tour sand inspects mine dewatering to detect and resolve maintenance/ mechanical issues
Executes long term maintenance and improvement plan for area of control
Complies with established methodologies and quality standards related to maintenance/ mechanical while at the same time recommending new or alternate approaches
Responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of all activities related to maintenance/ mechanical
Maximizes equipment utilization and minimizes downtime
Monitors, analyzes, and implements changes to ensure maintenance is preventative, predictive, and proactive
Monitors and reports on the achievement of targets and revises strategies as needed
Maintain high availability of equipment while maintaining or reducing costs, without having much control on the verification and use of equipment daily
Assist Superintendent/Assistant Superintendent with the development of production plans and budgets, communicate and review working plans, policies, and schedules:

Executes maintenance and asset optimization schedules
Monitors plans and schedules on a daily basis and communicates adjustments to the supervisory teams to ensure commitments are met
Provides input into the development and implementation of maintenance policies and procedures
Identifies production inefficiencies and develops and implements necessary changes to improve and correct those inefficiencies
Assists in development and implementation of budget
Monitors compliance to budget in area of responsibility and develops action plans to correct variances in excess of budget
Encourages and participates in planning sessions requiring interaction between groups
Meets maintenance safety, equipment availability and cost objectives
Mentors senior mechanical supervisors to achieve the next level in their career
Manage the maintenance/ mechanical team:

Provides guidance to direct reports in the hiring of maintenance teams
Provides direct reports with clear work objectives and expectations of the performance levels required
Ensures that training is provided in accordance with the future requirements of direct reports and the company
Conducts performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports
Completes all time entry, vacation requests and scheduling


What we look for:

Technical Diploma in a related field or equivalent experience
Certified Mechanical l Journeyman or Maintenance Technician/Technologist Certificate
8 - 10 years’ experience in an Ore Processing Plant
Minimum 3 years of experience at a supervisory level
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written, with both internal and external contacts and the ability to work with all levels of the organization
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented
Must be able to handle a high level of confidentiality
Ability to work with others in a team environment
Ability to organize and prioritize job duties
Pleasant and courteous in interpersonal interactions
English written and oral is a requirement.
