Kinross is represented in Russia by Kupol and Dvoinoye operations, and offices in Anadyr, Bilibino, Pevek, Magadan and Moscow.

Anadyr and Bilibino offices provide administrative support to Kinross’ operations in the northern region of Chukotka through interfacing with local and regional authorities, regulators and local communities. The Bilibino office also provides logistics support to the two Russia-based gold mines. Kupol and Dvoinoye high-grade gold and silver deposits are underground mines connected by a 100-kilometer all-season road built over the challenging tundra terrain. A critical role in logistics support for both Kupol and Dvoinoye is played by the company office in the port town of Pevek; this office is also responsible for interaction with port and customs authorities, and organizing delivery of received commodities to Kinross’ Kupol and Dvoinoye operations over the 400-kilometer (250-mile) winter road.
Magadan regional office team supports Kinross’ operations and projects in Russia through interaction with local, regional and state agencies and authorities, and cooperation with local communities. Moscow Representative Office is involved in active cooperation with the Russian governmental agencies, media, investment and industry associations by providing information on Kinross’ activities in Russia and assisting Russian authorities in creating a favorable foreign investment climate in the mining sector.
All offices ensure seamless activity of the company’s mine sites and maintain the social license to operate within the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug.

Job Description

Provide comprehensive technical support to continuous improvement (CI) initiatives at the Kupol mine. Follow the established standards, rules, procedures and instructions. Develop the site strategy and training requirment for the site's continuous improvement teams. 

Job Responsibilities

1.            Manage continuous improvement processes and initiatives at the site

  • Be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely implementation of all continuous improvement activities at the site
  • Address CI-related requests and applications, including problem solving and assessment
  • Follow the established methodologies and quality standards for continuous improvement, while recommending new or alternative approaches
  • Forward issues for consideration by higher management should such issues require awareness on how the decisions may affect the company's operations.
  • Prepare reports and file CI-related documentation
  • Take part in, promote and support special CI projects
  • Provide analysis of deliverables along with the comments from the immediate supervisor involved with/or related to any CI initiatives
  • Be able to instruct or train less experienced workers on the established standards, procedures, and methods
  • Other duties as required and directed by senior management


2.          Provide technical and customer support on continuous improvement at the site

  • Respond to internal customer requests and solve problems while ensuring compliance with acceptable service standards
  • Ensure internal customers’ compliance with the Company’s CI-related policies, procedures, and rules
  • Provide training for internal customers as required
  •  Prepare communication materials, directives, and other written materials for continuous improvement initiatives


3.          Set the line of development for CI team

  • Guide the team work by setting and assigning tasks
  • Be a contact person for receiving and sharing information with the team and at all times, promote the corporate values
  • Be involved in development and review of procedures and policies for the CI team
Education and Experience


  • Technical school or technical training corresponding to 3 years of study


  • Over 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience in managing specialist teams of various profiles
  • General understanding of the continuous improvement concepts, including the DMAIC approach (Define, Measure, Analyse, Improve, Control) of the Six Sigma methodology
  • Previous experience in a managerial or supervisor position
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a mining, milling or equipment  maintenance engineering background whom have been trained and are experienced in continuous improvement tools and methodologies.


  • Proven ability of decision-making to resolve problems that affect safety, costs, production and well-being of colleagues.
  • Understanding of various technical drawings, flow charts, cards and spreadsheets.
  • General understanding of financial and economic analysis.
  • Experience working on projects – with specific focus on improving existing processes.
  • Experience in staff training and development.
  • Official professional certification or appointment in a relevant field.

  • Ability to learn quickly with good analytical skills.

  • Ability to function and work in extreme and cold climatic conditions.

  • Basic knowledge in electrical engineering and mechanics.
