Reporting to the General Manager, the Processing Manager will be responsible for the leadership, management and technical excellence of the processing plant, analytical laboratory and tailings storage facility.
Key areas of responsibilities:
* Ensure that safety protocols, lock-out/tag-out and operating procedures are followed in the operation of all unit operations and ancillaries;
* Liaise with mining department to optimise the feed to the plant to ensure best use of resource at all times;
* Liaise closely with the fixed plant maintenance team to enable safe plant operation and maximise plant run-time;
* Provide leadership to the processing team with overall objective of maximising productivity, process efficiencies and product quality, at minimal cost;
* Maintain an auditable metal accounting system for the site;
* Evaluating process performance to identify and initiate development/improvement opportunities;
* Review plant design for debottlenecking and efficiency/operability improvement and initiate, and provide financial justification for, related capital projects;
* Report on plant activities and performance indicators;
* Oversee and manage all personnel within the metallurgical department;
* Oversee and manage the loading/transport of copper and magnetite concentrate to the port of Nouakchott;
Qualification & Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in metallurgical, chemical or minerals engineering from an internationally recognised university;
* Advanced degree is advantageous;
* Minimum 15 years in metallurgical process operations and/or R&D/design; preferably in the base metals industry and copper/gold milling and flotation circuits, in particular;
* Previous iron ore/magnetite processing experience would be advantageous;
* Experience in the leaching of gold ores would also be advantageous;
* Experience/understanding working in other cultures.
* Previous experience in an acting General Manager role desirable.
* +5 years' experience in a Process Manager role or equivalent
Personal characteristics:
Strong understanding of metallurgical process improvement and control strategies for large-scale, continuous operating mineral processing plants;
* Good analytical skills for identifying opportunities;
* Strong leadership and supervisory skills with ability to delegate and motivate the team towards excellence;
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate accurate transfer of information in both an upward and downward direction.
* Experience with work permit systems and safe work procedures to control maintenance activities and manage hazards associated with mining and chemical plant operations
