Technical Coordinator - Discontinued Ops - Elizabeth, NJ, US, 07207


Provides technical expertise, guidance and advice to management to resolve complex site maintenance and decommissioning issues at assigned site.

  • Acts as technical expert in general areas of past and present operations and maintenance at assigned site.  Provides technical expertise to resolve site maintenance and decommissioning issues.  Will have broad and deep background, knowledge and understanding of a site processes and associated equipment.
  • Monitors maintenance, inspection, and security schedules and reviews historical maintenance records for plant and equipment, to help identify potential and existing problems and facilitate site decommissioning.  Having identified a problem, determines the root cause and recommends what action should be taken to resolve and/or prevent production/maintenance issues from occurring (or re-occurring).
  • Coordinates local project teams working on site decommissioning activities, including asset preservation, demolition, and site security. Team members may be internal or external (vendors or contractors).
  • Serves as technical expert on site decommissioning issues.
  • Collaborates with Planners and others involved in the planning of production shut-downs and site decommissioning.
  • Generates ad hoc reports and analysis for site management.
  • May represent the site on Company-sponsored steering teams.
  • Actively participates in site safety processes, and in collaboration with management, helps to incorporate safe working practices in the day-to-day activities of all internal staff and outside resources.
  • Perform other duties as requested.




Minimum Requirements:


  • High School diploma or GED and seven (7) years experience in mining industry or manufacturing environment (within maintenance and/or operations), including project management experience.



  • Experience with site mechanical and electrical systems
  • Experience with site design and layout
  • Experience with GSC roles to manage procurement of goods and services
    Experience with coordinating work with multiple organizational entities

  • Positions which Freeport-McMoRan has designated as safety sensitive positions in the applicable job or position description and which upon further review continue to be designated as safety-sensitive based on an individualized assessment of the actual duties performed by a specifically identified employee.
