Roles and Responsibilities
* Assist with the development of procurement strategies for Projects
* Develop supplier relationships to manage risk, encourage innovation and identify cost-saving opportunities
* Create Purchase Orders, utilising commercial acumen, along with clear and well thought out documentation
* Propose alternative approaches to established processes and procedures to improve efficiency and effectiveness
* Liaise with project managers and other Projects stakeholders to define requirements and produce commensurate budget estimates and sourcing strategies
* Conduct market research to ensure availability of required products and services and develop sourcing plans accordingly
* Review requisitions and technical packages for completeness, correctness and clarity
* Review of tendering documents and bid lists for selected products and services
* Participate in the commercial evaluations of tenders
* Negotiate and prepare contracts and purchase orders for site works, equipment and services ensuring compliance with jurisdictional requirements and minimizing tax obligations
* Use, maintain and develop the in-house Procurement Database
* Report progress and close out of projects
* Works with all disciplines (purchasing, expediting, logistics, site construction contracting) to facilitate complete understanding of procurement department function
* Manages day to day workload, including setting of priorities in conjunction with Supervisor, Project Procurement
* Assists with mentoring procurement officers where required
* Acts as Supervisor, Project Procurement during absence and leave periods
* Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time by the Supervisor, Project Procurement
Qualifications
* Degree or diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management or other related field would be well regarded
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Requirements:
* Experience in the complete procurement function in a project environment
* In depth knowledge of contracting/commercial law/terms and conditions
* Ability to create a positive stakeholder management and customer support environment
* Strong background in contract writing and administration
* High level of negotiating skills
* High level of problem solving skills
* Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
* Results driven
* Ability to perform under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
* Experience of working in a culturally diverse and global environment
* Minimum of 5 years' procurement experience with significant experience in mining projects
