Senior Mining Engineer (Technical Services / Mining / Expat / Deswik / Mine Planning / Production) – West Africa

Job Description:
Our client is a leading mining services provider. The purpose of this position is to provide technical and engineering solutions along with business improvement outcomes for our operations globally. This is a collaborative and supportive role requiring the use of technical mining best practice to deliver value for our new and existing customers. This role reports into the Project Manager and Alternate Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Provide support to project manager during strategic planning activities to increase value and optimize use of resources
• Provide guidance and support to the team of engineers
• Provide technical support to the operations group to achieve mid-term and long-term objectives, maximize production, plan their activities and accurately measure key mining parameters
• Review plans and designs for regulatory compliance and compliance to client and company policies, procedures and standards
• Complete and review mine planning and design to increase value to operation, optimize grade control and minimize dilution
• Maintain, report and monitor production and performance data to ensure the client’s and company’s goals are achieved
• Identify mine planning risks and opportunities across the business
• Ensure all work is at a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements
• Mentor and train engineering graduates to become an asset within the business
• Identify productivity and cost reduction opportunities

Requirements: Qualification and Skill

• Bachelor degree in Mining Engineering
• Underground Supervisors Certificate of Competency or First Class Mine Managers (FCMM) Certificate of Competency will be highly regarded
• At least 5 years’ experience in underground mining
• At least 5 years’ experience in Mine Design, Scheduling and Drill and Blast
• Must have experience working for a mining contractor
• Must have proven experience in gold and or copper/gold mining underground operations
• Must have expat exposure in Africa
• Must have held a similar level role
• Technical report writing skills
• Effective verbal and written communication
• Deswik software experience essential
